New Functionality: Transportation Updates

Thu, 06/02/2022

On May 24th, 2022, Governor Henry McMaster signed into law new requirements for transportation providers, changing the way the Public Service Commission regulates these companies. To better serve the public and regulate transportation companies, which include taxi services and moving companies, we have created new tools on the Public Service Commission website.

As of May, pending applications for carriers of household goods and carriers of hazardous waste for disposal will be posted on the Pending Transportation Info page and will be archived once they are no longer pending. All applications filed with the Commission have a fifteen-day deadline for protests, which is included in the application table.

In addition, we have created a new Transportation Max Rates page, which features a spreadsheet of maximum rates for transportation companies. This tool allows consumers to research the maximum rates for household goods movers and hazardous waste carriers to make informed choices for their transportation needs.

For more information on how to use these new tools, please visit our partners at SC Utility Consumer, who have created training content to allow you to use these new tools effectively.
